This living room (or, more properly, drawing room) is the focus of this house and probably its most visible room. In a bygone era the room would have been the place all would withdraw to after dinner for dancing, gaming, and even more revelry. Today we don't have those rooms in most homes. That was the design challenge - to incorporate this room into a functional, fashionable, more modern space. Every inch had to be covered, painted, loved and adorned.

The shared vision of Mastercraft Interiors and Carleton Varney evolved from the gracious Greenbrier Hotel of West Virginia. Carleton Varney is known for color - big, bold, saturated color - and color is the story here! I marveled at the applications by renowned wall artist Ferko Lakatos.

Layer upon layer, the walls evolved into a stunning finish. This you have to see!

From there, a Jefferson blue paint was used on the ceiling, striped tone-on-tone. White sheers draped the windows, and a new chandelier sparkled overhead.

The upholstery choices are very bold and very vibrant. This room reeks of fun and interest. A grand piano and cozy seating provide the comforts that invite guests to stay a while. We sure did enjoy this character!
