Welcome to DesignIntuit. We hope you will enjoy our publication and that it will become a catalyst for understanding and achieving great interior design and self-expression. In each issue we will explore what makes an interior special and remarkable, and discover how to accomplish this in a sequential, fun and enlightening way. By looking at beautiful places, spaces, art, history and culture, we suggest creative solutions to better interior design.

Well-designed interiors rarely just happen, and success is not a result of chance. Without an understanding of interior design elements, resources, and time, many are left with home décor that is often unmemorable and mediocre.

How to create an original, aesthetically satisfying, valid solution to our interior design challenges is a notion that eludes many of us. The frustration of where to start, how to budget, whom to hire, what to buy, and where to buy is daunting. Then, the idea of assembling all of these elements into a space is often beyond comprehension and most time schedules.

We created DesignIntuit for all of these reasons. We have real answers, not just theories about interior design - in a timesaving, compact format. Each month our magazine features useful information that will help you on your home-design quest. With an emphasis on design education, we provide you with the best tools, resources, ideas and inspirations available - those not known to most outside or even inside the design profession.

Each month we preview brilliant examples of design, showcasing fabrics, wall finishes, flooring options, window treatments, and many design elements, all beyond your choices at the local mall, retail stores and catalogues. We seek out, compile, and review all of the latest and best products available.

In a fun and engaging format we help demystify the design process. By learning design principles and elements, basic planning, concept development and access to fine resources, you can imagine design as never before. We will explore period architectural styles and discover how to link these movements to real-life examples of today's interiors.

We want to help you explore many approaches to decorating and designing your living spaces.

Learning the design process will allow you to create unique concepts and make extraordinary material selections as you assemble all of this diverse thinking into your own space. Apply this to a real project or simply tinker with the possibilities.

We hope our information and advice will help you learn, think and create.

Monthly Content Categories

Focus
In this section we explore decorative and fine arts and architecture of a selected place. Through the basic visual impressions of shape, materials, structure, color, texture, and size, we isolate and identify elements of style germane to that place. By focusing on these highlighted elements of style, we learn about the history, terms of decorative, and period style.

Marco Polo's Quest
Highlighting places, regions, cities, in search of great design, great buys, and great ways to "get in touch," literally, with interiors and design. We focus on how art, history and culture all have an impact on interior design. This is also a place to find out-of-the-way shops, foods, and lodgings that are all part of the "place's" experience.

Michelangelo's Den
This is the practical, how-to section. This is where we review lessons on design, what it is, how to recognize it, and how to apply it to your own tastes. We work through real examples and provide informative responses to interior-design scenarios. We teach you how to design like a pro, and even show you how to work with a pro.

Great Sites & Sources
We are out looking for simply the best products, sources, and collections available today. We review them and gather a comprehensive list to help you save both time and energy. We uncover the hard-to-find, unique "to-the-trade-only " sources not easily found and certainly not compiled in any other publication. Remember that DesignIntuit does not accept advertising dollars from any of the companies we review - so we are unbiased. Our goal is simple - to bring the best home for our audience.
